Research in Motion’s (RIM) early attempts at mating its popular wireless e-mail device/PDA with a cell phone didn’t turn out as well as the company had hoped. But the BlackBerry 7210, RIM’s first color-screen model, is a different story. Offered by AT&T Wireless for $449, the 7210, which is largely the same as T-Mobile’s 7230, combines a GSM/GPRS phone, a PDA, and wireless e-mail capabilities in a slim, 4.8-ounce unit that doesn’t require an earbud to talk on. The only potential drawback is AT&T Wireless’s service; if the carrier’s GPRS coverage is not widespread in your area, you’ll have a tough time getting e-mail on the go.

An admirable cell phone we had the chance to review is the RIM BlackBerry 7210, a phone that was conceived to compete a very competitive market. Released around 01/7/2003 the BlackBerry 7210 is supporting the networks GSM 900 / 1900. Measuring only 113 x 74 x 20 mm and weighting only 136 g, this cell phone makes an interesting tool. This cell phone comes with a 960 mAh Li-Ion battery, letting a talk time of 4.00 hours and lasts in standby around 240 hours. Its creators incorporated a 16 MB memory, a good quantity for a regular use! The nice screen of this cell phone lets you insert wallpapers of 240 x 160 pixels.

The BlackBerry 7200 Series features a crisp, high-resolution color display and supports international roaming on GSM/GPRS networks, while maintaining superior battery performance. With support for up to 10 email accounts, wireless email synchronization’s integrated attachment viewing, the BlackBerry 7200 Series provides wireless access to existing business and personal email accounts, in addition to phone, SMS, Web browser and organizer applications.
