Nextel customers and BlackBerry users are two staunchly dedicated groups of people, which is why it came as no shock to us that the RIM BlackBerry 7510, offered by Nextel, met with a good amount of enthusiasm. Finally, Nextel users who loved the company’s business-oriented Direct Connect walkie-talkie service could join the BlackBerry craze. Of course, like early prototypes, the 7510 had some limitations–namely, a paltry 16MB of memory and no Bluetooth. Fortunately, the RIM BlackBerry 7520 answers these criticisms with 32MB of memory and Bluetooth capabilities for wireless headsets, earpieces, and car kits.

The BlackBerry 7520 delivers access to email, corporate data and voice services while roaming in many countries and destinations around the world. The handheld also features Bluetooth support for wireless headsets and car kits, 32MB flash memory, a brighter LED backlight, as well as an updated QWERTY keyboard style with highlighted number keys for easy dialing and typing. It also features cradle-free wireless email synchronization, integrated attachment viewing, and remote address look up in addition to secure, push-based wireless connectivity for corporate users.

The handset ships with a 900 mAh Lithium-ion battery that delivers a scant 152 minutes of talk time or up to 69 hours of operation in the standby mode. The unit’s incoming call notification function is user-configurable as a tone, silent handset vibration, on-screen icon or flashing LED indicator. The BlackBerry 7520 also has a memo pad and a task list for additional organization and the system is cleverly designed with well spaced keys. This multimedia communication device is a great choice for practical use.

Being almost exclusively an AUV driver (having driven a Toyota Tamaraw FX and a Revo for almost all of my driving years), I always welcome the break when I get to drive a slightly bigger vehicle. That treat came recently when I had a chance to take the 2010 Isuzu Alterra for a spin. At first [...]
