Nextel customers and BlackBerry users are two staunchly dedicated groups of people, which is why it came as no shock to us that the RIM BlackBerry 7510, offered by Nextel, met with a good amount of enthusiasm. Finally, Nextel users who loved the company’s business-oriented Direct Connect walkie-talkie service could join the BlackBerry craze. Of course, like early prototypes, the 7510 had some limitations–namely, a paltry 16MB of memory and no Bluetooth. Fortunately, the RIM BlackBerry 7520 answers these criticisms with 32MB of memory and Bluetooth capabilities for wireless headsets, earpieces, and car kits.

The BlackBerry 7520 delivers access to email, corporate data and voice services while roaming in many countries and destinations around the world. The handheld also features Bluetooth support for wireless headsets and car kits, 32MB flash memory, a brighter LED backlight, as well as an updated QWERTY keyboard style with highlighted number keys for easy dialing and typing. It also features cradle-free wireless email synchronization, integrated attachment viewing, and remote address look up in addition to secure, push-based wireless connectivity for corporate users.

The handset ships with a 900 mAh Lithium-ion battery that delivers a scant 152 minutes of talk time or up to 69 hours of operation in the standby mode. The unit’s incoming call notification function is user-configurable as a tone, silent handset vibration, on-screen icon or flashing LED indicator. The BlackBerry 7520 also has a memo pad and a task list for additional organization and the system is cleverly designed with well spaced keys. This multimedia communication device is a great choice for practical use.

The BlackBerry 7730 keeps all the best elements of earlier BlackBerry handhelds, like the superb infrastructure and easy, intuitive interface, but adds exciting new possibilities through the color screen. We are considering new applications enabled by the high resolution color screen, such as mapping and other graphics for engineers in the field, who would normally be reliant on laptops.he transition to the BlackBerry 7730 is absolutely painless and the fact that BlackBerry has retained a similar design for the hardware means that training needs are minimal.

Network: Tri-Band: 850/1800/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS networks

With the BlackBerry 7510® Wireless Handheld, you’ll get phone, long-range digital walkie-talkie, email, browser and organizer applications in a single wireless device. It features a Java™ development platform and a high-resolution display supporting over 65,000 colors.

Size: 4.5 x 2.9 x 1.0 inches / 11.4 x 7.5 x 2.6cm (LxWxD)
Weight: 5.85 oz/166 g
Display: High resolution full-color display supporting over 65,000 colors

The 7510 promises to pack a lot into one package. A phone, a Web browser (through Nextel Online’s wireless Web), e-mail access, and an organizer are all included, and the addition of the speakerphone is a welcome plus over Nextel’s previous 6510 model. Its other features are largely the same as those of the 7210 and the 7230: a 65,000-color, 240×160-pixel display; a QWERTY keyboard; and a thumb-operated trackwheel, as well as support for Java and real-time e-mail with attachments.

Compared to the GSM version of the Blackberry, the 7510 is a bit thicker to accommodate the speaker for Direct Connect and speakerphone operation. The larger size also accommodates a higher-capacity battery, which is a good thing since iDEN phones don’t seem to squeeze as much out their batteries as GSM phones (and this goes for RIM as well).

Overall the Blackberry 7510 provides phone functionality that is second-to-none (the awkward keyboard notwithstanding). If you have a need for the non-phone functionality of a Blackberry, but at the same time you want an iDEN phone too, the 7510 is the best of both worlds. It doesn’t force you to compromise by giving you a poor-quality phone, as is the case with many of the PDA-phone devices I’ve tested to date.

This is not the best RAZR we’ve seen, that honor is still held by the RAZR V3xx. Still, this phone does have a couple of advantages over the AT&T device. First, we like the updated look of the Maxx, it provides a nice evolutionary bridge between this phone and the KRZR. Second, the camera on [...]
